CrossFit is here to stay. It is NOT a trend. It is a long-term training methodology that creates lifelong health and fitness. We are the “Dave Ramsey” of health care. That’s right… we are health care… NOT disease care. WHY wait (and/or plan?!) for your body to self-destruct?!?!
Your fitness, health, and overall well-being can be changed for the better at your local CrossFit gym – RIGHT NOW!
I use CrossFit methodology as my training regimen and have done so (knowingly) for the past 7 years; and haphazardly for 5 years before that. CrossFit Throne is an official CrossFit affiliate (est. 2012), and I’m honored to be a part of everything CrossFit has to offer.
The CrossFit community, sport, and methodology has been an extremely life-changing experience and it is much bigger than I ever imagined. I’m sorry OTF, but you CANNOT be “CrossFit-style”… you have NO idea what we encompass and embody. The CrossFit affiliate owner of Seaward CrossFit in Florida recently said:
Some of my friends and current members used to ask, “but what about <insert other program name here>?”
Those who have asked, were under the impression that Orangetheory Fitness (and other HIIT programs) offer the same thing as CrossFit. This only PARTIALLY true. My friend at Illinois’ CrossFit Illumine said it BEST:
“When it comes to health and fitness we are happy when someone makes the choice to get off the couch and make some positive changes in their lives. That happiness isn’t dependent on them signing up with us. We believe that people will seek us out when they are ready for serious change. We have a constant influx of clients who are current members at OTF, other HIIT gyms, or bootcamps and ready for something more. They are ready for what is next.
<sic CrossFit> as a business has an ABUNDANCE mindset. We apply the same thinking to franchises like OTF and other HIIT programs which we see growing in popularity across North America. These gyms and systems are fantastic for CrossFit, and here are three reasons why we love them:
- They are introducing masses of people to high-intensity interval training. Their marketing machine is effective at getting more people off of the couch and through their doors because they have made HIIT trendy, sexy, and non-threatening. The “jump” to CrossFit (which we know isn’t a jump at all, but bear with me here) looks a lot more manageable after an athlete has some experience with other methodology.
- These gyms have introduced a higher price point to the market at about $30/class. CrossFit used to boast an “expensive” price tag in the group fitness category, but now, millions of people have been conditioned to see the value in paying $150-$250/month to pursue their fitness goals.
- There is a built-in limitation and proverbial ceiling to their fitness precisely because they are replicable: athletes often reach a plateau with their results or experience monotony and boredom. We often hear how well P90x and Insanity work the first time, but on the second or third time through the series, people are less inclined to push themselves as hard because they know what’s coming. The mental stimulation and novelty have worn off, leaving them looking for something else to try.
In our unique position, CrossFit does not look at Orangetheory, HIIT Gym, Bodytek, “bootcamps”, or even P90X as competition. Instead, they’re excellent starting points for any currently couch-bound potential CrossFit athlete. We can only run on a treadmill so many times, row 500m so many times, and do so many burpees before we begin to ask, “is this the rest of my fitness life?” CrossFit is the next logical step. We are the “What’s next!”
CrossFit is and has always been very grass-roots. No high-budget marketing campaigns, fancy equipment, saunas or jacuzzis. No vacation give-aways or free pizza and donuts. What we do have are good people who provide a platform for their clients to achieve some amazing results through physical preparedness and functional fitness. People who are ready to find us will do so at the right time; and we will be ready as their final fitness destination.”
CrossFit is here, ready to pick-up where the others left-off. We give athletes a chance to grow beyond their comfort zones, by keeping them uncomfortable. We help people discover that there is SO much more to training than adrenal fatigue, body-part blasting, and calorie-earning. We give kids, teens, adults, grandparents, AND great-grandparnets more opportunities to find unlimited fitness improvements for the rest of their lives in A FULLY DEVELOPED COMMUNITY of awesome people who want the best for each other.
See you soon!
