The above flowchart is fun, and it’s a fair approximation of how the trending “paleo” nutrition guidelines work. BUT it is NOT entirely representative of everything we teach at CrossFit Throne.
We offer basics that are good for EVERYONE. But before you jump in with both feet, TAKE THESE 5 SMALL STEPS:
- drink more water and less soda (eliminate sodas COMPLETELY if you can)
- remove breads and other flour-based foods from your diet
- eat plenty of meats and leafy green vegetables (CAUTION: peas, carrots, and corn do NOT count as vegetables)
- eat GOOD fats: avocados, pecans, cashews, peanuts, bacon, heavy cream, butter, coconut oil
- sleep 8 hours EVERY night (and 8-10 hours every now and then)
Once the BASICS are locked-in, you’re going to see changes in your body composition (less adipose tissue) and you’ll be much more energized throughout the day.
Eating right is actually this EASY. Lean meats, leafy green and above-ground vegetables, fruit, nuts, and fats.
That’s it… it is what our bodies are designed to eat. And it IS NOT EXPENSIVE.
THIS IS NOT rocket science. AND… you DO NOT need to do all of it overnight.
Once you have these basics, the next thing to do is determine your caloric needs. Tracking what you eat for a week or two should get you close to know what you eat.
We’ve designed this spreadsheet to help get you STARTED, and it includes some good GENERAL GUIDELINES. And it’s only the BEGINNING. As your metabolism and body composition changes, your nutritional needs CHANGE SIGNIFICANTLY. And while these guidelines work for most people who’re fueling their system for performance, they do not work for everyone.
